A Condo Reno Retrospective: Whatever your lot in life... build on it!

The information contained in this site is the 100% True Story (give or take maybe 2% poetic license moments) based on our (my DH and I's) real-life experience of buying and renovating our first home. I promise I will not hold back any of the gory, embarrassing, insane details to the best of my memory. I took a lot of pictures and even some video, so that should help!

We made quite a few mistakes with our renovation.
I will be highlighting these mistakes in hopes that you might avoid making them!

My husband and I were renters, completely convinced that we would never be able to afford our own home. But I watch A LOT of reality TV...So I just couldn't stop thinking about it, and then playing hypothetical math games, and looking up articles, and incentive programs, and day dreaming while surfing Realtor.ca.... 

I used a mortgage calculator from the website of the realtor we'd eventually go with to relentlessly crunch numbers...

Soon I was able to convince even my skeptical partner that Home Ownership was a good idea for us. We met with what seemed like a symphony of professionals that helped us in our quest... We looked at quite a few houses, believing that a house was 'real' home ownership... condos were for suckers with the fees and the no back yard: no way!

It worked! We bought our very first home! A destroyed yet affordable condo.

Nothing is ever as you expect it to be... I'm learning that is actually a good thing!

And that is how the adventure began...
